Drive North Sydney to Caribou/Munroes Island Prov. Park, NS

A short drive to start the morning to visit Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck. We stopped here 14 years ago but definitely worth a second visit.  A beautiful setting overlooking the bay!  Highly recommend stopping here if you are driving by.

Beautiful drive, especially since it is sunny and driving by Bras D’or Lakes.  Canso Causeway joins Cape Breton to the main land and a major chunk of the hillside has been used to build it.  Canso was one of the oldest fishing centres since the 1600’s but now with the codfish declines it offers sightseeing and sport fishing.
Different name in difference places
Nova Scotia does not have pull off or rest areas neither did New Brunswick so for lunch we pulled off the road at James River hoping to find something.  It was actually the old highway and there was a pulloff, good spot.  While there a local stopped to let us know that across the street was spring water coming from the mountain. People were stopping with jugs to fill up, no bottled water needed here.  Mother Nature is the best!
We wanted to stop close to the PEI ferry and found a Provincial Campground just 3-5 km away. Nova Scotia has great signs.  Set up and headed for the beach.  Nice sandy spot just in front that must be a km or two long.  We even went for a swim and sun tanned.  After dinner we walked the campsite and the beach from end to end. We could see the ferry crossing from the beach to P.E.I.
