Visit St. John’s NL & Killick Coast
Back to Cape Spear first thing. I forgot to get my Parks Passport stamped. It was a gorgeous warm morning at the point while we waited for them to open at 10 am. Then we drove back into St. John’s to Bowring Park est 1914. St. John’s has a lot of green spaces and they are connected by the extensive Grand Concourse which is about 120 km of hiking trails. Bowing Park has a water pond and walking trails with statues throughout the park. The Peter Pan statue is identical to the one in London.
Although St. John’s is a very old city, due to the fires, and the last one that almost destroyed the city in 1892 most buildings only date back that far. We walked around Water St past the harbour by the memorial park near the court house and up to George St for lunch. George St is known for its pubs and night life. We had lunch at Kelly’s, very good Cod au Gratin.

After lunch we had a 10 minute shower, then it was muggy. We headed to the air conditioned truck to
Quidi Vidi, the historic fishing village.
Also there is the Quidi Vidi Brewing Co.
We picked up a case of their Iceberg Beer, made from what else an ice
berg.

It was still early so we headed north to Pouch Cove and onto Torbay
along the Killick Coast. We missed driving up to Portugal Cove. From here you take a ferry to Bell Island
where you can tour the submarine iron mines and the lighthouse on a cliff.Daily Stats:
