Medicine Hat to St Mary, MT
Kevin, Kylie and Layla stopped by to say goodbye. We were on the road by 10 am south towards
Lethbridge. Started raining! By lunch it was pouring sideways!! 8 degrees, gas in Cardston at the Husky the
only gas station we saw and just big enough to get in with the RV’s. At the border we were only asked if we had
seeded fruits and vegetables. We could
have kept our wood since it didn’t have bark on it. Good thing we kept our meat, the website seemed
to indicate that you can’t have any. They
just asked how much liquor we had and where we were travelling to, he was
impressed. Arrived in St Mary and stayed at Johnson’s of St Mary
campsite. We only had a WIFI hotspot which means
you have to go to the office or Laundromat next door, very slow. No phone service.
Walked to KOA to check it
out a mile away. Nice gift shop and had
hottubs but was about $5-10 more. Rain
slowed down. Walked around the
campsite. Nice view from upper level and
we saw 2 elk swimming across the river.
Checked out pictures and went to bed.

You are in the perfect spot to do the Going-to-the-Sun road. We drove it last year. It has just opened after the winter season. Lots of look-out spots and hikes to do. We did it from the west end (Kalispell/Columbia Falls area). It is an engineering marvel. Check it out!
